Due to its mild climate and fresh clean air, Sochi is certainly one of the best recreation destinations in the Soviet Union. The city is home to many resorts, wellness centres, and seaside inns. Following the breakdown of the Soviet Union and lack of funding from the government, various infrastructures became very outdated. However, with the announcement in 2007 that the “2014 Winter Olympic Games” would take place in Sochi, almost all of the city’s infrastructure was reconstructed and redeveloped. So far, Sochi remains to be the most expensive Olympic Games ever.
After hosting the Winter Olympic Games in 2014, Sochi became known to the world and the flow of visitors to the city increased significantly. Sochi has transformed into the largest, most prestigious and picturesque resort city in all of Russia. Now, visitors can enjoy many new world-class luxury hotels, one of the best amusement parks in Europe, as well as restaurants offering numerous international cuisine from European to Asian food, as well as unique local fares. There are also many newly constructed infrastructure such as highways which allow for quick convenient access from one part of the city to another. Public transportation has also been significantly updated with comfortable modern high-speed trains. The view from the windows of these trains are incredible and breathtaking as one takes in the sights and sounds of the Black Sea coast, the river flowing through the mountains as well as the Caucasian mountains. There are also many well-kept beaches along the city where you can sail on yachts accompanied by dolphins. The Olympics Games in 2014 also brought in modern high tech sports arenas where one can skate, watch hockey, play football, practice curling, hold world championships and attend musical concerts with thousands of spectators.
In addition, Sochi has become an attractive investment for developers and investors. Due to this fact, the largest casino in Russia was launched several years ago here in Sochi. This Casino often holds international gambling tournaments which attracts many visitors from all over the world.
As well, Sochi is the second longest city in the world. It is divided into several major areas from the beaches of the Black Sea to the great Caucasian mountains whose height reaches over two and a half thousand meters above sea level. This unique geographic feature makes the city of Sochi a year-round tourism destination where one can enjoy sunbathing and swimming in the Black Sea during summer and skiing down the best ski slopes in Russia in winter, enjoying the mountains of Krasnaya Polyana Resorts with endless dizzying views.
My personal favourite time of the year in Sochi is during the summer and fall seasons when it is the best place for hiking and conquering the Caucasian mountains and finding harmony and beauty in nature. This was where I was able to hike the challenging 25 kilometers up the mountain for the very first time. Nowadays, I always look forward to summer when I will conquer new heights with my hotel guests.

While growing up in Vladivostok (the far eastern part of Russia), I traveled a lot around Asia with my parents. It was then that I realized my desire to build my career in the hospitality industry.
In 2014, after receiving a Diploma in Business Administration and Management from the Oregon State University, I started my hotel career as an Desk Assistant in the Executive Lounge at the Sochi Marriott Krasnaya Polyana Hotel. A few months later, I transferred my position to work as a telephone operator. While doing back office assignments and answering hundreds of telephone calls a day, I learned more about the many facets of hotel work. I discovered the role of a Concierge and thought what an exciting profession it is.
Rather than waiting for a miracle to happen, I decided to prove myself to the hotel management and was able to obtain my first Concierge position at the Sochi Marriott Krasnaya Polyana Hotel. A year later, I was promoted to the position of Senior Concierge.
For my hobby, I enjoy taking photographs and filming videos of my surroundings. That is the reason why I know all the best places to take photographs in Sochi, and I am always glad to recommend those special places to my guests.
